Administrative Building

Current Use:

Critical Issues:

  • Office space is cramped and poorly lit, with little area for the storage of files and plans
  • Proximity to the existing garage bays allows for the infiltration of vehicle exhaust into the office area
  • Heating for the garage bays is provided through a gas fired heater located in the ceiling area
  • Existing garage bay doors are limited in height
  • Larger dump trucks cannot be stored within the building
  • Minimal storage space for vehicles and equipment
  • Poor energy efficiency

Fuel System: A 3,000-gallon underground fuel tank and fuel pump are located outside the southwest corner of the building.

Garage/Shop Building

Building Specs: 31' x 78' single story metal building (2,268 square feet). Constructed in 1938. Serviced by municipal water, electricity and gas.

Current Configuration:

  • Building contains three (3) garage bays
  • One (1) hydraulic vehicle lift

Critical Issues:

  • Large vehicles cannot be stored within garage and must be stored and serviced outside
  • Vehicles subject to all weather conditions
  • Existing bays have limited space for vehicle maintenance and repairs
  • Current overhead doors do not allow for repairs of larger department vehicles within the building
  • Poor lighting and air quality
  • Cramped work areas
  • Limited areas for storage of smaller equipment and parts

Salt Shed

Building Specs: Constructed in 1983. 40' x 96' (3,840 square feet). Stores salt to treat the roads during the winter months.

Critical Issues:

  • Side walls of the shed are supported by wood beams to provide strength to the wall system
  • The current wall system is damaged and bowing in areas
  • Building in continuous need of repair
High Priority

Storage Shelter

Building Specs: Storage Shelter is 35' x 60', 2,100 square feet, single story, metal clad building. Used to store equipment such as plows and utility trailers.

Critical Issues:

  • Several damaged and missing panels
  • Shelter has limited space and cannot accommodate larger equipment
  • Equipment open to the elements and subject to vandalism or theft
  • Extensive corrosion exists on many of the posts at ground level
  • The west and south sides of the building have several damaged or missing panels

Former Police Station

Building Specs: Constructed in 1970. 40' x 60' single story, wood frame structure with garage storage below.

Current Use:

  • Currently occupied by Hanson Youth Sports for office and equipment storage
  • Highway Department currently utilizes the garage space to house lawn mowing equipment

Condition:

  • Former Police station is in good condition
  • Contains heating and AC

Modern facilities are needed to properly support our highway department operations
